Chesapeake Bay Foundation Service Project

Northern Virginia Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation (NVQUWF)  on July 18-19, 2015 sponsored a Chesapeake Foundation trip for 27 Boy Scouts, leaders and others to participate in a Chesapeake Bay Foundation trip to Smith Island.  The trip was enjoyed by all and was a real learning experience. This opportunity was made possible through a grant to QUWF from the Trans Urban I-95 Corridor Foundation. Northern Virginia QUWF Awarded 2014 NRA Youth Outreach Grant

Northern Virginia QUWF Receives 95 Express Lane Grant

“We are pleased to announce that our Northern Virginia QUWF Chapter has received an Environmental Management Grant as part of the 95 Express Lanes Grant Program” states Craig Alderman, Executive Director of QUWF. NV16 Heritage Day Adult Youth Fun Shoot

May 31 NV16 Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation held its annual Heritage Day Adult and Youth fun shoot. The day was beautiful. Rifle and shotgun shooting and food were plentiful and great. Attendees and volunteers all were treated to a great time what with shooting and a fund raising with: prizes, gun raffles, live and silent auctions. QUWF Receives NRA Grant for Youth Outreach Programs and Instructors

In 2014 the Northern Virginia Chapter 16 of Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, Inc. was awarded a NRA grant which will provide equipment and training for adult volunteers and youth in the shooting sports. The program is designed to educate and expose adults, the Boy Scouts and other area youth to the recreational potential of shooting sports and other outdoor activities. March 6th – Wildlife Restoration Workshop Recap

The March 6 Wildlife Restoration Workshop had great speakers with a turnout of 30.  The VA DGIF team of David Bryan and Justin Folks, both Private Lands Wildlife Biologists, presented work that can be done to restore habitat land and wildlife.  They discussed the decline of grassland birds (quail) and other bird species of conservation concern and also the plus and minuses of pen raised quail.  Lou Casciano, QUWF member, presented his story on what has done on his property…
